Hello!
MY NAME IS NENE
I am 34 years old. I was born and raised in Detroit, then moved here to Denver 15 years ago. I left home immediately out of high school to pursue a promising career as a high fashion model. I spent a year traveling around the fashion centers of the US and Europe before deciding that I was far more interested in being on the other side of the camera. After receiving a BA in photography from the Art Institute of Colorado I began a career as a photographer and graphic designer. My life was one of relative ease and comfort, though I often found myself bored with the projects I was paid to create for corporate entities.

Then 3 years ago, a series of unfortunate and traumatic events cost me my legs and left arm; thus my career in this field was cut short. I dealt with the pain and depression of my amputations through painting. In my first year I produced several hundred pieces and was struck by the demand for my art in places like New York, Paris, Bogota, Istanbul, Sydney, LA., London and the UAE. This high demand lead to me being able to reclaim my self sufficiency and even to contribute to local non-profits aiding others struggling with disabilities and traumatic events. In my free time I share my time and story with others while teaching art classes in the hopes that it allows them to heal as it did me.

I know the value of my art but I am always willing to work with non-profits and with those individuals who I find truly value art for arts sake and lack the financial means to pay what I ask. This is why I offer one on one interviews for purchases and commissions so that I can assess and understand any special circumstances and/or needs.
